Morphological type: type
The morphological type, or Hubble type, is coded from early to late types as:
E -- E-S0 -- S0 -- S0-a -- Sa -- Sab -- Sb -- Sbc -- Sc -- Scd -- Sd -- Sm -- Irr
For barred spiral galaxies the types are:
SBa -- SBab -- SBb -- SBbc -- SBc -- SBcd -- SBd -- SBm
There are also the types: S? and E? for uncertain classification.
The morphological type is also coded as the de Vaucouleurs numerical type: t, and other information about the morphology are contained
in the bar and ring parameters
and to some extend in thecompactness and
multiple parameters.
